The Requirement

Have you recently taken on IFS Cloud as your business’s sole ERP system? Looking to streamline your supply chain and need to hire specialist support? Here’s how we helped one business in the manufacturing sector simplify its supply chain with the right IFS resource.

Having just taken on IFS as its main ERP system, the business lacked internal IFS expertise having an outdated legacy system previously in place. Despite having support from the system vendor and the implementation partner they provided, the business needed additional IFS skillsets to help handle the massive scope of the project. With the project team made up of 60 heavy users and 2,500 HCM users, the business was looking to onboard a specialist IFS Supply Chain Consultant who had vast experience with the IFS supply chain module, Sales, CRM, and rentals. Run from its main UK office, the right candidate could travel on-site 5 days a week to support the implementation rollout across all 8 sites.

Main Objectives

  • Successfully implement the IFS Cloud system within an allocated 12 months and budget set
  • Implement the IFS supply chain module
  • Oversee sales orders to better within the system

Project Progress

Specialist Resource

Having already established a relationship with a contractor directly on the project, we reached out to accommodate the client with specialist project resources. Through this process, we were able to fully understand the requirements needed. This saved the client spending money on supplier costs (from the implementation partner) alongside additional resource for each modular requirement.

Contractor Options

We presented the client with 10 viable options ranging in price, years of expertise, availability, location, specialist areas, and certifications. Through the process of elimination, internal discussions with the board narrowed down the shortlist to 5 candidates who they felt were most relevant at that given time. Taking all 5 candidates to interview, the business then chose just one candidate to take to the second interview stage where key details were finalised.

The Right Candidate

The candidate they hired lived within a commutable distance of their office, had prior experience with IFS supply chain, Sales, CRM, and rentals, and was within budget. The successful placement was an initial 6-month contract where the candidate would gain additional exposure to the IFS Cloud system (23R1).

The Delivery

With the additional resources in place, the project was able to go ahead on time and within budget. The new IFS specialist hired also improved company morale and brought efficiency to the team. Having already existing relationships with IFS experts currently on this project, the contractor could hit the ground running and be as effective as possible from day one. Following the initial 6-month period, the successful candidate’s contract was extended for a further 6-month period.
